MotoGP, Bezzecchi: "So many emotions. Martin? I'll try to learn from him to win."

"I was rooting for Pecco, but today the one who deserved it got the better of me. VR46 Racing gave me a lot of emotions. Unfortunately, 2024 didn't go as I would've liked. The race? I struggled with the tires."

MotoGP: Bezzecchi:

Marco Bezzecchi came in 9th at the Barcelona GP,  ending his VR46 Racing adventure with a passable result. Starting next Tuesday, when the MotoGP returns to Montmelo for the 2025 tests, the rider from Romagna will officially be an Aprilia rider.

"It was't a bad race, even if I expected to finish the tire a bit later. However, I brought home some points," he said, shooting from the hip." It was a very exciting weekend. Even though I tried to separate the human component from the sports component, it wasn't easy. This morning was strange because I knew it was going to be the last time in that pit and in that chair. I don't think it affected my performance and, in any case, now a new chapter begins."

Going into detail about the critical issues encountered he added: "After a very good Friday, as soon as the track rubberized, I started to suffer, as usual. We couldn't solve all the problems, but we faced them a bit. For example, to limit the wear on the rear, I was entering corners quite fast, but the bike was struggling, and I ended up ruining the front first, so I had to start slowing down on entry and going on the gas first, and, in the last ten laps, it was just survival. Fortunately, I was able to overtake Acosta in the end. Overall, I can say I did everything I could both yesterday and today, and I'm happy. It was nice to see everyone excited at the finish line."

Asked about the best memory associated with the team, the native from Rimini confided: "Impossible to choose one. Obviously, the victories and podiums, but also smiling during the dark moments and knowing you have support. I don't think it'll be the same elsewhere. The final farewell was beyond expectations, but the welcome had also been great. So, if I had to choose, I'd say welcome and farewell."

Besides the great relationship with the guys on the team, the year was no picnic."It's been a difficult season, in which I didn't expect to struggle so much. But, from the first test, I had some feelings that weren't positive. Although they then improved from Sepang to now, in terms of performance, we weren't at the level we expected. Now I'll try to understand. I'm sure I've grown as a person and as a rider, having had to adapt each time. Definitely, though, I didn't achieve what I would've liked," he stressed.

On the outcome of the World Championship that went to Martin, the 26-year-old instead said, "Jorge had already had a very good season in 2023 and, this year, he improved, even more by proving to be consistent and competitive all the time. Although he didn't win as much as Bagnaia, he proved to be the strongest. The fastest doesn't always prevail. I feel sorry for Pecco, for whom I was rooting, but the Spanish rider deserved it more. I think Francesco will remember this day for a long time and, in 2025, he'll come back stronger than ever. What do I think of them? Besides being a friend, a brother, Pecco is a very strong rider, two times champion in the MotoGP, and three in total. I don't have the same relationship with Jorge, but he seems like a good guy. Currently, he's the most competitive. Sharing the garage with him is going to be nice. I see it as an opportunity to grow and learn, so I can get to win as well."

Finally, a comment on his new life at Noale. "It's going to be strange, but I can't wait to get started. Did I see any strong points about the bike? I'll give an opinion after I try it out," he concluded.
