MotoGP, Bastianini: "On Sunday we will see if Marquez does not care about third place"

"Unfortunately, I can't exploit the used tires as much as I'd like. KTM? I don't worry about these rumors because in the team everything is pretty good, outside, however, I don't know the dynamics."

MotoGP: Bastianini:

Among the riders who have secured direct access to Q2 is also Enea Bastianini. In fact, the Romagna man earned the last available place thanks to the tenth quickest time in FP2. For the occasion, the Ducati rider was half a second down on Bagnaia, who set the benchmark.

On the one hand there is satisfaction, on the other there is the knowledge that there is a lot of work to be done ahead of Saturday.
"This morning I did so many laps in a row," he said, "the idea was to do two exits, but I didn't think I would do so many laps. It was a special job because we tried so many tires, trying to understand their behavior. All in all, I know where I'm losing, which is a little bit everywhere, and this is a difficult aspect to deal with, because if you lose in a certain point it is easier to understand how to intervene. T3 is my Achilles Heel and I hope to improve it for Saturday."

Marquez is pretty much aligned with your performance....
"We are aligned, but it was better to be aligned a little further ahead (smiles)."

Marc seems to care little about the battle for third place....
"We'll see on Sunday if he doesn't care so much."

Enea, what changes with these conditions compared to May?
"With this temperature it was more difficult than when it is warmer. However, I must say that Michelin has been good at bringing these solutions and so far it has gone pretty smoothly."

What is the balance of this Friday?
"On the pace I had a big drop with the tires, in fact this morning I couldn't be as fast as the other Ducatis. In the afternoon, on the other hand, it was better, but there is something wrong, as I am using the tires too much and I am not even fast over the one lap. Before, on the other hand, the situation was different, but now with the used tires I'm struggling a lot more and I don't know why."

At the beginning of the Championship you were sort of a diesel, able to emerge over the long distance. Now, on the other hand, you immediately have that initial push, but then you struggle....

"With the new bike it was more difficult to work on this aspect. I admit it has happened, but much fewer times than before. Having said that I think there is very little to analyze, since this is my last race. Should I come to a solution, it would still not be bad."

Enea, are you worried about all these rumors related to the difficult time KTM is going through?
"I'm not worried because in the team everything is pretty good. Outside I don't know the dynamics, you hear rumors, but in general they all seem to me to be a bit down."
