MotoGP, Bastianini: "The fight for third place interests me more than Marquez"

"Marc has won 8 titles while I haven't, for sure the journalists are pumping up this challenge. Bagnaia will try to put pressure on Martin, but he has shown he can handle it."

MotoGP: Bastianini:

Enea Bastianini is ready for his last dance with Ducati. In fact, the race in Barcelona will be his last one with the Rossa before jumping on the KTM. On the part of the Romagna rider there is therefore the desire to conclude his adventure with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer in the best possible way, bidding farewell with a solid and good performance.

"I am living this moment well - said Bastianini - it is my last race with Ducati and it will certainly be exciting to race here in Barcelona. We will have to stay focused until the last lap, working as we have done until today and trying to have fun and stay calm."

How much has the GP24 changed from last May's race
"The bike is the same as when we raced in the spring. The only thing that changes is the fairing. For sure, if I have to make a step, it will be up to me more than the bike."

What do you expect from this season finale?
"Unfortunately, the race in May was not easy, also because I took like 16 long laps. However, in the race I had a good pace, in fact I was not going badly. Here in Barcelona the cold weather will be a handicap for everyone, especially in the left turns. Michelin has in fact brought asymmetric tires and we'll see what happens."

Then there is the battle for third place against Marquez... Is this something you care about or is it pumped up more by the media than anything else?
"It is you journalists who influence it. Maybe I care more about getting third than Marc, since he has won eight titles while I have not. In the end, however, it is in everyone's nature to duel and get ahead of the other."

In that case Pernat would be very happy.
"Carlo I think is OK, I was worried about him when he was in the hospital."

A prediction about the championship finale? What should we expect?
"I think it will be a good battle; Pecco will try to put pressure on Jorge, but Martin has learned to handle it. If I had to make a name for victory I would say Jorge, but never say never."
