MotoGP, Acosta: "This year, I threw away many chances to win."

"In some cases we struggled. The possibility was realistic but, unfortunately, I didn't succeed. The World Championship? I think it's going to be hard for Martin to lose it. Barcelona? It would've been better to race somewhere else. Zarco's words? I never followed anyone."

MotoGP: Acosta:

Pedro Acosta's rookie season also draws to a close in Barcelona. With one stage to go, the Tech3 rider is currently 5th with three points ahead of Binder. Pedro wishes to end on a high note by confirminf the growth he's demonstrated in recent races.

"I think occupying the top five is really incredible," he said. "I made a lot of mistakes this year. I crashed, I haven't won a race, but the most important thing for me is to end the season with a good result and try to give it my best.

What's the outcome for 2024?
"I give myself a six on my report card, even if I was a four-point-five sometimes. For me, this season was useful in learning, growing, and understanding the mistakes we made. In some cases, we fought to win. A realistic possibility and not a dream. But, unfortunately, I didn't succeed, because I threw away so many opportunities to get the win."

At the Sepang round, Zarco said you turned off the limiting device to take advantage of the slipstream...
"To tell you the truth, I'm a rider who never gets behind anyone. I honestly don't know. Zarco says a lot of things, but I've never seen penalties for that."

What do you expect from this weekend?
"I'm curious to see what's going to happen, because the temperature is colder than when we raced in May. Plus, Pirelli brought a lot of tires to try. I don't know if we'll be able to try them all because there are four fronts and three rears. I don't want to create illusions, much less expectations, but just work to do our best, trying to continue to grow."

There is also the World Championship. Who do you think could bring home the title?
"Definitely the odds are on Martin's side, because he has an important advantage over Pecco. Last year, Jorge  made a lot of mistakes, especially the one in Indonesia, arriving in Valencia as second in the World Championship. Obviously, the challenge is still open, but I don't think Martin will get beyond an eighth position, since he's never been in those positions. So, I'm of the opinion that it's difficult for him to lose this world championship."

Pedro, you're racing in Barcelona. is it right that the last race will be held in Spain?
"What can I say? I'm happy that it's being raced near my home, even if it's a little colder here than usual. But maybe it was better to go somewhere else, because you all saw what happened in Spain in the past weeks. I don't think the MotoGP is the priority in our country now."
