After Andrea Iannone's return to Sepang, Michele Pirro will be riding Fabio Di Giannantonio's Ducati GP23 in the last Grand Prix of the season. Fabio is recovering from recent shoulder surgery. The Ducati test rider will be wearing the colors of the VR46 team for the race, and he'll also be joining the team in Tuesday's test.
"First of all, a thank you to the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and Ducati for this nice opportunity in ending the season riding a MotoGP bike. It's always nice to race in this category and also in Valentino's colors, who I thank along with Uccio and Pablo." Pirro said. "Sending a big hug to Fabio. He was doing really well, but not being at one hundred percent fit on this bike is complicated and, next year, he'll really have a great opportunity with the GP25. Racing on the GP23 will be interesting for me. I'll be able to see where we progressed. I don't have expectations for the GP, but I'm happy to race, also for all the people in Valencia, and I hope to honor the team and the work group. See you on the track."
It's going to be a special weekend for the VR46 team, because it's going to be the farewell weekend for Bezzecchi, who'll be riding the Aprilia on Tuesday. Marco has been with Valentino Rossi's team for five seasons: first. for two years in the Moto2, then for the last three in the MotoGP. Together, they reached 29 total podiums (14 in the Moto2, 9 in the MotoGP and 6 in the Sprint), including 6 victories (3 in the Moto2 and 3 in the MotoGP).
"It's going to be a weekend of pure emotion. First of all, I want to send a big hug to the city of Valencia and all the people affected by the flood. As for my last GP with the team, it's been five crucial seasons for my racing career and for me as a person," the Bez said. "A great chapter closes. I'm ready to embark on a new sports adventure, but many memories and many friendships remain. I'll give it my best to end with a good race among the role players."
