One of the key points related to the Malaysian GP was definitely Andrea Iannone's presence. The Maniac was back on a MotoGP bike after a 5-year haiatus, replacing Fabio Di Giannantonio on this occasion.
So, Andrea gritted his teeth, finishing Sunday's race 17th, with a 47"599 behind Bagnaia, ahead of Lorenzo Savadori's Aprilia. After the race, the Maniac stated: "The goal was to finish the race. Un the end, I did fifteen seconds better than Bautista last year, more or less on the same bike. Plus, he had a chance to try it out, while I packed my bag from Jerez and came here. That has to be my benchmark, not Bagnaia."
The Pertamina VR46 rider's statement certainly didn't go unnoticed by Alvaro, who promptly replied on X: "My goodness... Luckily we have the times. Actually, he was two minutes faster than i was with one lap less. If you take away one lap from my time, to do nineteen like he did, I'm three seconds faster... and injured."
That's what the Aruba rider claimed, demolishing Ioanne, who returned to Sepang after a 5-year hiatus. Apparently, Alvaro didn't really appreciate #29's observations and wanted to promptly respond.
