MotoGP, Letter by Maria, Martin's girlfriend: "Jorge, you're already a winner."

"For a hundred reasons that have nothing to do with motorcycles. That's why you should be as proud of yourself as young Jorge is, who dreamt of being where you are now."

MotoGP: Letter by Maria, Martin's girlfriend:

What just ended in Malaysia was perhaps one of the most important and exciting weekends of Jorge Martin's entire career. The extraordinary progress he's made in recent years, and the maturity and mental solidity he's achieved, have allowed the rider from Madrid to win the title of MotoGP World Champion in Sepang. He had already missed receiving this title last year. All this in consideration of the 24-point lead he accumulated over his direct rival, Francesco Bagnaia, with only one round to go before the end of the season.

This was a very meaningful feat for the Pramac Racing team rider who, on the eve of the Malaysian GP, had a chance to remember everything behind the goal he's about to achieve, thanks to a  letter full of love and admiration written by one of the most important people in his life: his partner, Maria Monfort.

This is what Maria dedicated to her Martinator:

"I don't know if it's because of the way I am, the standards I have for myself and have, in general, for most things, or if it's just because I grew up with two incredibly inspirational figures for me, like my mother and grandfather. I can assure you, though, that there are very few people who inspire this feeling of admiration and sincere pride in me. Yet, you have become one of the main ones.

It's not the feeling of love I have for you as your partner that lead me to have this kind of appreciation. It was nothing more than the common thread that allowed me to see what's behind an individual who many people only see as a rider and who, unfortunately, aren't fortunate enough to be able to see that, behind the leather suit and once off the bike, there's a person who's much more incredible than when he's on the bike.

A humble, caring, generous, and immensely sensitive person. A hard worker, with clear goals and a dream, and with aspirations that allow you to improve every single day, but always keeping your feet on the ground, remembering how difficult it was, and it continues to be, to get where you are. And even more, remembering and always being grateful to all the people who've accompanied you on this journey, whether you're still in touch with them or not. That's the extraordinary humanity you have. Not being able to not care for and protect the people around you, giving them one thousand percent of yourself, just as you do in  carinf for yourself.

If there's one thing that all the people who know you even minimally are able to appreciate, it's the effort and perseverance with which you manage to be better than the last, each day. Even if you're strong, and you've become even stronger because of everything you've been through, everyone at some point needs something to remind them of that.

So that's where I try to be, always by your side. By being there physically or not, holding your hand or not, or even talking with that nonverbal language that we've constructed, which allows us to understand, just with a glance, what's going on in the other person's head. Trying to remind you to enjoy what you're experiencing right now and telling you that, for a hundred reasons, which have nothing to do with motorcycles, you're already a winner.

That's why you should be as proud of yourself as we all are and, most of all, be as proud of yourself as young Jorge is, who once dreamt of being where he is now."
