SBK, BMW U-turn: no more Kalex swingarm in 2025, but built in-house!

Today Toprak will do the first tests with the new bike at Aragon: there will be important changes in aerodynamics and engine, but above all a swingarm produced by BMW itself without relying on the German manufacturer anymore. Bimota will also be on track with Bassani and Lowes

SBK: BMW U-turn: no more Kalex swingarm in 2025, but built in-house!

Toprak Razgatlioglu's 2025 will begin today in Aragon. Having concluded the celebrations in Istanbul for his world title, it is already time for the Turk to get back on his M 1000 RR. As mentioned, he will do so today at MotorLand, during a two-day test that will end Wednesday evening.

Weather conditions permitting, there will indeed be plenty of work for the Turk to do as he will be called upon to test the new bike. The M 1000 RR version 2025 will not be a revolution, but an evolution of the model that allowed him to reach the world title in the recently concluded season.

In fact, the engine will be updated, so much so that Reiterberger and Guintoli conducted the first test last week in Jerez. Then there will be a significant revamp on the aerodynamic front with the introduction of new wings, already tried by Hannes Soomer during a test held last summer at Misano.

Among the many new features, the eye also turns to the swingarm. Until this season BMW had taken to the track with a swingarm made by Kalex. However, according to what has been learned, for next season this component will be made in-house by the company itself, effectively ending the collaboration with the German manufacturer.

In short, for Toprak and BMW, 2025 starts today in Aragon. Also on the track will be Bimota, on its second outing after last week's in Jerez, on the track with Axel Bassani and Alex Lowes. Along with them also test rider Florian Marino.
