Last in the Sprint Race and a crash in Sunday's race for Lorenzo Savadori meant that the Italian rider ended the Thailand weekend, yet another as a replacement for Miguel Oliveira on the Trackhouse Racing Aprilia, decidedly worse than expected. What worries him, however, is not so much his present as a test rider, but the future.
Accustomed to stability, the Emilian has not concealed his fears about the various internal changes that are taking place starting with the departure of technical manager Romano Albesiano in favor of former Ducati and KTM man, Fabiano Sterlacchini.
"It is a time of changes and they are having an influence, I would be a liar if I said otherwise. Clearly we lack guidance, but soon we will have it. There are certain things we are bringing forward, which we are trying anyway, however, we are waiting for Fabiano's arrival, because, as said, we need someone to dictate the direction," were his thoughts reported by Motorsport.com.
The reshuffling at the top could slow the march towards 2025. "This is the first time I've been in such a situation, so I couldn't say. Certainly we will all have to work overtime because the new year is just around the corner and I myself am already working a lot with that in mind. With the new technical director we will have to figure out what his idea is on how to evolve, so that we can arrive ready for the Valencia test as well as the Malaysia test."
And speaking of Sepang, MotoGP will be making a stop there this week, and rumor has it that Albesiano's heir will be joining him in the box. "Nothing has been said to me, but the sooner he arrives the better," he acknowledged, "The human relationship I have with Romano is important, however I am happy with Fabiano's arrival. I have never worked with him, however, we spoke by phone and he made a very good impression on me."
