Fermin Aldeguer's commitments in Asia are over, with round to go. The SpeedUp team's rider from Spain will have to skip Malaysia after fracturing his left hand in the crash with Tony Arbolino at the start of the Thai GP.
With Aldeguer forced to return to Spain for surgery, Luca Boscoscoscuro's team decided to replace him with Alberto Surra in Sepang. This is a great opportunity for the 20-year-old rider from Piedmont. He's currently riding in the Moto2 European Championship with Boscoscoscuro and enjoying his second season with excellent results. With only one round to left until the end of the championship, Surra is in third place in the standings, 25 points behind the leader, with one victory and four other podiums.
Alberto will try to showcase his potential again this weekend in Malaysia: a track on which he's already had the opportunity to race in 2022, when he competed in the Moto3. So the MotoGP environment isn't new to the rider from Turin who, besides boasting a history in the lighter class, debuted last year in the Moto2, racing in eight Grand Prixs with the Forward Racing team.
