The Thai GP couldn't have ended worse for Aldeguer. The Speed Up team's Spanish rider knocked Arbolino to the ground on the first lap after completely misjudging braking at Turn 5. Fermin fractured his left hand in the fall and will have to return to Spain for surgery in the coming days. That means he won't be able to race in Sepang next weekend, and his presence in Valencia is also uncertain.
If Aldeguer fails to recover for the last GP of the year, the problem will be twofold. Not only will he be forced to miss his home race but also his first MotoGP test. The Tuesday following the Spanish Grand Prix is, in fact, a test day for the Premier Class riders.Team Gresini and the Ducati Desmosedici are waiting for Fermin, but they'll only know after the surgery if he can be there.
They'll also have to wait and see whether or not Aldeguer will be penalized for causing the accident involving Arbolino. The Stewards have indicated that further technical analysis is needed, and they'll announce their ruling in Malaysia.
