Fabio Quartararo started from the 6th box but ended the Sprint Race at the Buriram circuit in 10th place, all because of an incident at the start that complicated his life. But that didn't take away his smile, and he was at least able to get back into the fight with the Aprilia and KTM riders.
"Overall, it was a good day, except for the first two laps. Binder passed me too aggressively at turn eight, and I lost five positions or maybe more, because I had to go wide. But UI then managed to pass Vinales, Espargaro, Miller, and Mir," he explained.
So Saturday's outcome was satisfactory. "Everything went well, even in the Q1 and Q2. There was only that problem with Brad at the start. My pace was better than the pace of those I had in front of me at that moment, and that allowed me to recuperate. When I ended up behind Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio, it became harder, but I enjoyed it. The pace was good, but we want more," he admitted, going into the specifics of his test today.
"I think I pushed the bike to the maximum today. I lapped at 1'29"4 in both qualifying stages, and I don't think I had anything more to give. As mentioned, we also did well in the Sprint in terms of pace. On the tire fron,t I had very good sensations with the hard on the front, but it's a compound that doesn't let you know the limit corners, so I had to save myself a few times with my knee and elbow. It's something that rarely happens with the Yamaha," he revealed, before highlighting his major limitation.
"Where do I lose the most time? When braking. I have to make the most of the front because the rear doesn't give me grip. Fortunately, the M1 allows me to feel the limit with the front," he concluded.
