Who knows when and if MotoGP may return to Argentina, probably not next year. The provisional MotoGP calendar for 2025 was announced only a month ago, but there already seems to be a defection. The Termas di Rio Honda round was scheduled as the second event of the year, but it already looks unlikely to happen.
The country is going through a major economic crisis (in 2023 it was the state with the highest inflation rate in the world) and there simply do not seem to be the conditions to hold a Grand Prix. It would not be the first time this has happened, because this year's Argentine round was also canceled as a result of the cuts in spending not necessary for national survival wanted by Premier Milei. Several months have passed, but the situation does not seem to have improved enough to think about a GP, which is currently scheduled for mid-March.
Another question mark on the calendar is over Hungary. Balaton Park is a newly built facility, but what raises doubts is the safety of the circuit. On the official MotoGP channel on YouTube there is a video showing the track being filmed by a drone, and in more than one place it does not seem to meet the safety standards required of MotoGP tracks, with run-off areas that are not very wide and, in at least one case, non existent. The track does not yet have homologation for international competitions, and it will have to be seen whether it can obtain them with this configuration.
Instead, the return of Brno seems more certain. The Czech circuit needs major work, first and foremost a complete resurfacing, but the new ownership seems to have the resources to do it.
