Out of the picture in the Sprint Race and only 15th in Sunday's race, Alex Marquez saw his chances of experiencing a great Australian GP thwarted, fighting for at least the top 10 due to a collision with Miller's KTM, but it was yet another unfavorable episode in a complicated period and he slipped to 12th overall.
"If you're struggling like I have been in recent times, the championship can seem very long," he told Marca in frustration, "We need to turn this around and I think we're close enough to doing it. In Indonesia I was knocked down in turn three, in Japan what happened happened and at Phillip Island again I was involved in an episode. I am however continuing to push because I want to finish the World Championship well and with a good feeling."
After analyzing his own current state in general and his Australian weekend specifically, the Team Gresini rider dedicated a few words to his brother Marc, who made a glorious comeback to first place on Sunday. "I was already convinced that he would win, but then when faced with the problem at the start I had my doubts. I think my collision with Jack opened a gap for him, in any case I knew he would fight it out with Martin and in the end his experience rewarded him - he declared, concluding with a somewhat enigmatic reference to Ducati - He certainly did Bagnaia a favor, but they certainly won't admit it."
