MotoGP, Marini: "Fatherhood? Something natural, but a unique emotion"

"Happy to have been home with Marta to support her, now I can enjoy the three races. What di I expect? The best breaking away and a big group behind fighting. The asphalt? Good, if it had more grip."

MotoGP: Marini:

If motorcycling hasn't yet been favorable for Luca Marini in 2024 (23rd overall, with just 7 points), his personal life is another story. Married since October 12th, 2023 to his lifelong partner, Marta Vincenzi, he recently became father to Angelina Luce.

"Is it hard being here this weekend? No, I'm just grateful to be home at the most important time to support Marta and experience an incredible emotion. I'm really happy. Now I can enjoy these three weeks of racing and then come back for another very significant part of my life," the HRC rider said.

When asked if fatherhood is something comparable to a success on two wheels, the 27-year-old replied with conviction: "It's something different and complicated to explain. When a child is born, there's an emotional peak that can't be replicated in another situation. Something unique and special in which everything is still equally natural."

Speaking about his commitment on the track, he said: "Phillip Island is always special. Hopefully, we'll have nice weather, otherwise, rain or dry, doesn't matter. We'll see how our bike will perform. Usually, here, if you have a good pace to stay in the slipstream of those ahead, you can have a group race and gain some points, with only the best that are able to break away. We'll do our best, try to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and riding as well."

Finally, a comment about the new asphalt: "If it had more grip, it would be helpful, as demonstrated in other GPs where we were closer to the leaders, so we may have less disadvantages, But our problem isn't only grip, even it's one of the main ones. We'll try to solve it as soon as possible, but we're doing great work with the engineers, and the improvement is evident."
