Nicolò Bulega does not seem to feel any particular pressure on the eve of the Round at Jerez de la Frontera. The last 2024 round of the Superbike World Championship, which will decide the rainbow game with the final duel between leader Toprak Razgatlioglu and the rookie from Emilia, first chaser of the Turk with 46 points behind. Snatching the title from the BMW rider will be a titanic task, but Bulegas is ready to give his all until the end.
"I'm very happy because we're coming from a solid weekend at Estoril. I have a good feeling with the bike, and Jerez is one of my favorite tracks. I'll try to do my best, as always," Nicolò commented.
How to recuperate the points that separate him from Toprak? "To be honest, it's very difficult, but I'll have to try to fight for the victory. Especially because I need to have some extra motivation for next year," the Ducati rider said. "I'll try to have fun this weekend and, if I can, to fight for the podium and the victory."
Impossible to imagine, before the start of the season, that it would be a rookie to challenge Razgatlioglu in the last race of the year. An unthinkable scenario even for the man himself.
"Did I expect it? Not at all! Being here, at the last round, is a surprise. Being able to say I'm still fighting for the title," the 25-year-old admitted. "It's incredible, I didn't have it in mind when I signed the contract and, even after winning my first race ,I knew the championship was still very long. But I've been fighting for podiums all year long and, in the end, I'm still here battling for the world championship in my first season in the championship. It's extraordinary, and I'm enjoying this moment."
Besides how it's going to turn out in Jerez, Bulega can only be satisfied with what he's accomplished in this 2024.
"I'm very proud. Like I said, it's incredible, because I'm in my first year, and I'm battling with champions who've been here for a long time. Toprak is already world champion, Bautista is a two-time champion, and to be among them in my debut year is already fantastic," he noted "It's been a good season, and I'm happy because now I have a lot more experience with a different type of bike. There are a lot of electronics in the Superbike, which I didn't have much experience with. The engine is more powerful, and you have to work in many areas, so I'm happy to be able to learn a lot more about the bike. I'm happy with this year."
