With 136 points and eighth in the riders general standings, Franco Morbidelli's second half of the championship is on the rise. Franco had been in trouble for a while and unable to fight for the top positions, due to the aftermath of the accident he was involved in on his Panigale V4S in Portugal during the SBKs on the Portimão circuit. But the Prima Pramac team rider now seems to be back on track and has again found his bearings.
This was an improvement that allowed him to land in Australia with a lot of optimism and motivation, aiming to reach that last step he lacks to end in the top three. "I'm coming from a positive period with many good results, so I want to continue like this and make more progress," he said.
Franco had reached the podium in the Misano Sprint Race and, at least until now, the Italian-Brazilian has never been able to achieve him goal on Sunday. But, things could change at Phillip Island. "This is my goal, and I think it's realistic. That's what I'm trying to achieve," he said with conviction.
There are going to be many variables on Friday to deal with between the rain forecast and the new asphalt. "We'll work differently, and there are going to be aspects we have to be more careful about than on other weekends. In itself, the track is very different from the others, with aspects that are out of the norm. Will they help? I hope so, but they could also slow me down," he concluded, whihle allowing room for doubt.
