Estoril was a Friday in pursuit for Nicolò Bulega. While Toprak dictated the law, the Aruba rider had to chase, ending his day in 6th position, ahead of Bassani's Kawasaki. His gap from the Turkish rider is one second, but Nicolò is conscious of this and calm, despite the fact that a world title is up for grabs.
Unfortunately for him, the day turned out to be an uphill climb from the outset, thanks to a fall in the morning that caused him to lose valuable time.
"During the FP1 this morning, I was pushing and it was wet," he began. "But, in order to overtake Lecuona, I went inside, ending up on a different trajectory than usual, then I fell. It was a strange fall that, in the end, was conceivable. The problem is that I destroyed the Panigale, losing the entire session."
You had to chase again in the FP2 ...
"The track wasn't good in the afternoon. In fact, the conditions were mixed and you couldn't tell how far you could push. To make matters worse, I lapped more two years ago in Estoril, and I didn't even remember the track. Too bad, because today would've been useful for me to learn this track again but, in the end, it turned out to be a useless Friday."
In view of the World Championship, what's your opinion?
"More than the championship, it was a bad day to carry out a traditional Friday of work. I just wanted to gain confidence today with a 'new' track, since I'm a rookie. In the end, however, it didn't go as I hoped."
Nicolò, to try to beat Toprak, do you think you'll invent something or take risks?
"I always put one-hundred percent into it and, when I get what I want, it's good. But, in my opinion, screwing things up or inventing who knows what against Toprak isn't worth it. What I can do is take care of the details to pervent stupid things."
