After his lap was annulled, Marc Marquez went to Race Direction to find out why the notification was delayed. This prevented him from trying for another fast lap.
He hadn't asked for an explanation of why the lap was annulled, because it was correct. He touched the green, but it was only reason for the delay.
"The track-limit sensor was immediately triggered. This leads to the automatic cancellation of any lap," Webb responded. "The FIM MotoGP Stewards entered it into the system right away but, unfortunately, a software glitch interrupted this process, so the lap needed to be cancelled manually, causing a delay in the notification. This is the first time this has happened in thousands of track limit infractions investigated each season.
The cause of this glitch has been located and the system adjusted, to ensure that it won't happen again.
The Stewards investigated a delayed track limit application involveing #93, Marc Marquez. This was caused by a software glitch, so the lap was manually annulled."
