MotoGP, Marco Bezzecchi: "I came back to see the best up close"

"I was the only one who chose the soft tire. The others may have taken me for a fool, but it was the right choice. It's unrealistic to think to fight for the win now, but I want another podium."

MotoGP: Marco Bezzecchi:

A fourth place in Misano brought a smile back to Bezzecchi's face. Marco struggled more than he expected on the GP23 this season, and he realized that, in order to rise again, he'd have to work hard without letting it get him down. So, that's what he did, and the first results are starting to show.

"I'm quite happy. I came back to see the best riders up close, and so it was a good race," Marco said jokingly. "I decided to mount the soft tire on the rear. We were convinced of our work, and it was a choice that paid off, even if maybe everyone else thought I was crazy. I was the only one, but it worked because it helped me when braking. I had a drop in the last two laps, but I'm happy."

The only regret is in the first lap.

"I always make a mistake at turn six. It's the first left, and that's where the front always closes on me," he explained. "So, at the Quercia, Marquez passed me, but it wasn't that bad, because I was able to get pulled by him, and we were catching up to Acosta before he fell."

Before packing up to fly to Asia, the VR46 team rider took stock of the one-two at Misano and promoted himself. "They were two pretty good weekends. This one went better than the last, and I was faster. I don't know what grade I'd give myself, but good."

But it's still not good enough.

"I haven't been very consistent this season, but I've been on the rise in this last part," he continued. "I'd like to take a huge step and fight for the win again, but it's not realistic right now. Outside Europe, there are all tracks I like, and I hope to continue like this. To improve and bring home another podium."
