Filippo Rovelli took part as a wildcard in Triumph Trophy 660 with a heavy heart. In the morning, in fact, before the race he had learned of the passing of his friend-rival Luca Salvadori with whom he was battling in the National Trophy.
Starting from the sixth grid slot, after a bad start and a long time chasing a podium in the slipstream of his fellow Italian Colombi he finally finished in 11th position. It might have been a training session ahead of the next rounds at Imola and Cervesina, but in agreement with his team manager, Gianluca Galesi of the Pistard team, Filippo decided to abandon the trophy that saw him in second position right behind Salvadori.
"This championship is yours, and it will be forever. I love you," was the message from Oulton Park Filippo wanted to address to his friend.
"We won't be on track in either Imola or Cervesina, the last two rounds of the season," Galesi confirmed, "With this gesture, we want to make sure that Luca can celebrate from up there the much-sought after National Trophy 1000 title."
