Two weeks after the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will be hosing another MotoGP event: the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, scheduled for Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 22nd. For this second GP, Pirelli has decided to confirm the winning allocation already used on the same circuit two weeks ago. This will also be an opportunity to see the new SC0 development (soft) rear tire in the D0640 specification in action again for the Moto2. It had made its debut at Misano in the last GP and was highly appreciated by the riders.
"Two weeks ago, right here in Misano, in the Moto2, we debuted a new development rear tire in a soft compound, with a D0640 specification, which replaced the SC1 medium solution alongside the SC0 soft from the range," Giorgio Barbier, Pirelli's Moto Racing Director, recalled. "The results were extremely positive, to the point that the new solution was used in the race by no less than thirty of the thirty-one riders on the grid. The fact that we obtained such a wide consensus is undoubtedly a very encouraging sign, but not sufficient to allow us to validate the performance of this new solution. In fact, our validation process requires that a development tire be tested in races several times and in different situations and conditions before it can become part of the range. Therefore, being able to see this new solution in action again, maybe even with lower asphalt temperatures than two weeks ago, so as to assess its range of use and versatility, is certainly very important. That said, for the Moto3 as well, we decided to confirm the exact same allocation, both in terms of compounds and quantities, already planned for the first GP in Misano because we saw that it fully met the needs of the teams and riders, while also allowing them to break several track records. It's going to be interesting to see if there are going to be further improvements in this second GP thanks to the data and information acquired two weeks ago, assuming of course that the weekend will be characterized by good weather."
