SBK: Mission Turkey: Dorna set to evaluate Istanbul Park for 2025 Superbike

Dorna is working on the 2025 World Superbike calendar with the aim of introducing some new entries. In this regard, between today and tomorrow Gregorio Lavilla will be in Turkey to survey Istanbul Park, that is, the track that hosted Superbike in 2013 and Formula 1 in 2020-2021.

The Dorna number one is actually evaluating what are the possibilities of bringing the production-based series back to the Turkish track, something that Toprak had already declared at the Donington weekend last July.

The possibility is quite tantalizing, but at the same time there are some problems to be solved, not the least the general organization regarding marshals, workers and everything connected with the management of such an event.

On the subject Kenan Sofuoglu was very clear: "Toprak and I have already tested the track," the former rider told Speedweek, "the asphalt and the curbs are in place and the track is ready. However, the biggest difficulty is the overall organization, for which we need a rather large budget. Also we need to put together the right team. The track is huge, we need a lot of marshals. And there is also a lot to do around it. An event like this is quite expensive in Turkey."

So it remains to be seen whether or not Dorna will be able to confirm the return of SBK to Turkey 12 years after the last time.
