The first weekend at Misano came to a resounding end. The raindrops that briefly fell on the track changed the numbers, allowing Marc Marquez a comeback that took him to the front of the race.
A victory, the second in a row after Aragon, which testifies to the Spanish rider's growing confidence on the Ducati GP23. A race, however, also marked by Martin's miscalculation, who opted for a flag-to-flag, betting on adverse weather. A lost bet that nullified in one fell swoop the large points lead he had in the standings. gained after Bagnaia's zero in Aragon.
So, Bagnaia and Bastianini completed an all-Ducati podium, in a world championship that's still wide open between the four top Ducatistas. On the other hand, difficulties continue for the rival manufacturers: Aprilia hasn't found its direction for a few races, KTM rediscovered a competitive Acosta who, however, made mistakes while fighting in the top positions. Instead, there was nothing the Japanese Yamaha and Honda could do. The latter didn't even field their official riders and, dulcis in fundo, their separation from the historic sponsor Repsol was announced for the end of the year.
Carlo Pernat's comment:
"This GP was the litmus test we were all waiting for. After Marc's great victory in Aragon, he repeated it in Misano, despite dry and wet track conditions. Marc Marquez is still in the hunt for the title, as is Bastianini, who made an incredible comeback. He chose a soft tire, which gave him some problems in the last laps, but a podium is still always welcome.
Martin, instead, had an inconceivably bad day. With a 26-point lead, and his rival in front of him, he made a very bad error of judgment. The best strategy was to follow Pecco's decisions. This is a sign of a lack of mental clarity on his part. He was perfect in the Sprint, but this kind of mistake in a race isn't even seen in the CIV. He's still Martin, he's strong, and the title is still within his reach. However, his and Bagnaia's mistakes allowed Bastianini and Marquez to get closer in the championship. This championship is great and will be even better. Another negative note was the behavior of the fans. Sportsmanship is a must, and Marc Marquez won a great GP. You can't boo a great rider. I don't understand this behavior here in Misano. We're not in soccer, we need sportsmanship on all occasions. This is motorcycling. A winner should always be applauded, even if they don't like it.
These are guys racing at 360 km/h to give us a show. The show you came to see. Whoever wins should be applauded. I'm also surprised by the Aprilias, which we haven't seen in the last three GPs. Meanwhile, the KTM is developing strongly thanks to the work carried out by Pedrosa and Pol Espargarò work, who also finished tenth. Too bad about Acosta's fall. But, for a rookie to fall in the MotoGP while in the top positions, means being very fast. There are good signs of awakening also from the Moto2, thanks to Arbolino and Vietti. Despite Vietti's fall, things are improving for the Italian riders. Overall, it was a great GP, but I didn't like the behavior of the fans against the winner of the race."
