Johnny Rea ended his Magny-Cours weekend early. Following Saturday's fall in Race 1, the Yamaha rider underwent surgery Saturday night in Clermont-Ferrand to repair a deep abrasion on his right thumb and hasn't returned to the track.
Needless to say, he's very discouraged: "Unfortunately, my injury required the intervention of a specialist, and I had to undergo emergency surgery to repair some damage to my right thumb," he said. "I'll figure out my recovery, day by day, but I'd like to thank the track doctors, and especially Dr. Antoine Martins, for treating me. Thanks to all my team, my fans, and all my sponsors who continue to support me during this difficult time."
