MotoGP, Martin: "100% my fault, but with the team we need to communicate more."

"I came back in because it was raining a lot and I wanted to win. It was a lesson. From now on I will watch all of Bagnaia's moves. I realized I had made a mistake as soon as I came out of the box."

MotoGP: Martin:

Jorge Martin threw away a big opportunity in this Sunday's Misano GP. As always happens when you make gambles related to the weather the risk is to make a resounding mistake and concede ground to the opposition and that is exactly what happened to the Pramac rider, who albeit remaining the leader of the overall standings sees his margin to Bagnaia reduced to 7 points.

"I made a decision that was not correct, so we just have to learn from this lesson," he said in the heat of the moment, still regretting a 15th place that could have been something better.

"I came back in because it was raining and from Turn 3 to 11 the asphalt was very wet. Waiting a couple of laps would have been ideal since it then stopped. Did we talk with the team about the weather? No, I didn't know exactly what the conditions would be and that's probably what convinced me to go in. It's very important to communicate with the team and this time we didn't. It's 100 percent my fault, however, it's essential to have some more information before the GP," he went on to explain how he found himself choosing to make the bike change - What did I think when I realized that the gamble wouldn't pay off? Meanwhile, I understood it as soon as I left the pit. From the re-entry I found myself behind a small group that I probably could have passed, but I was afraid of the black flag, so I just tried to give it my all and in the end I brought home a point."

The problem began upstream, however, with the Spaniard's approach. "Maybe instead of focusing on the race itself and wanting to win it I should have behaved based on what my first rival for the title Bagnaia was doing. Next time I will wait."

However, the 26-year-old preferred to downplay the gift given to Pecco. "The gap changes all the time, what matters is to stay in the fight for the championship. My goal is always to improve and learn, and certainly today was a day where I learned a lot. I am optimistic, I have confidence in myself and my speed, consequently I have no doubt that I will fight until the end. Now Marquez is also dangerous? There are so many of us strong and anything is possible," he commented with determination.
