SBK: Superbike toward a turning-point: less powerful bikes from 2025!

2027 will be the year of the long-awaited regulation change, but already something will be seen starting next year. This is the case in Superbike, which from 2025 has decided to make a change in the regulations in order to have less powerful bikes.

In fact, Dorna and FIM are working to reduce the management of the quantity of fuel that can be instantly injected into the engine. By how much is not yet known, because the figure is being studied, but the intent is to have less powerful bikes on the grid.

At the same time, this innovation would further balance the performance of the various bikes on the track. In addition, the new rule would go a long way toward limiting those motorcycles with higher engine speeds, such as Ducati, which can boast 16,100 rpm, or BMW and Honda 15,500 and 15,600 respectively.

The talks regarding fuel management echoes in some ways what was done a few years ago in Formula 1. So we shall see the path that the Organizers and the Federation will follow in order to get closer to what will be the long-awaited rule change, scheduled for 2027.
