Between the track and the transfer market, Andrea Iannone's name was in the spotlight on Thursday at Magny-Cours. While waiting for him to tackle the first free practice session on Friday morning, the future of The Maniac is holding centre stage. The news of the day is that the Abruzzo rider still has not decided what to do in 2025.
Apparently there are two paths: the first leading to an extension in Ducati with Go Eleven, the second leading to Yamaha under GRT colors. Andrea was pressed about what was going on in the rider transfer market,
"Let's just say that at the moment the choice is between Go Eleven and Yamaha," he began, "to date, however, I have not yet decided what I will do in 2025. It still takes some time because this decision is important and I cannot make it in such a short time. Everything has to be analyzed and evaluated because the goal is to be in the fight for the World Championship."
Many observers thought that here in France there would be a communication.
"There is no news compared to Portimao and the choice to be made is not easy at all. In fact, I think it is the most difficult choice of my life because I am not as young as I was a few years ago and I cannot afford to make mistakes."
What are the points to be evaluated?
"As I have already said I will have to analyze every single detail because from 2025 to 2028 I want to aim to fight for the World Championship. So it will be crucial to understand what kind of package I will have and everything else. So I still need some time before I mature a choice and later announce it."
Speaking of the track, what do you expect at Magny-Cours?
"I am very curious to see what will happen this weekend because it is my first time with the Ducati V4. It certainly won't be easy, just like Most was, although on that occasion we managed to be good and fast in finding performance right away."
So you intend to start with a low profile, right?
"Inside me I already know that FP1 will not be easy. I will, however, try to learn the track and all the details as soon as possible with the goal of being in front from the start."
