MotoGP, Nakagami: "I'm pushing to have a competitive bike in Japan"

"Nothing new here in Misano, I'll try a new aerodynamic package during Monday's test. The are still many areas in which we're struggling, especially grip and cornering. The goal? To fight for at least the top 15."

MotoGP: Nakagami:

He crossed the finish line of the Sprint Race in 14th place in Spain, while he ended the GP in 11th. Not very exciting placings if we consider that the bike is a Honda but, in light of the current state of the Japanese team, they almost seem like gold. Takaaki Nakagami knows this well  and made no secret of the fact that he welcomed this result as if it were oxygen.

"Despite the grip problems that affected everyone on Sunday, we still managed to fight for the top ten positions, and that's a good sign. In Misano, the situation will be different, but we'll still try to be consistent from the first session and avoid losing too much ground so that we can always remain in the top fifteen and prepare well to cover the race distance," the 32-year-old rider said.

Unlike the Spanish track, the Italian one should present less critical issues. "Usually, the track conditions here are good, and the grip level is high. It's definitely going to be very different than Aragon. Will I have something new? No, the package will be the same as the last round because we'll have official testingon Monday, with many things to try out," he continued, before revealing a few more details. "From the information I have, they're going to bring a completely new aerodynamic package, but I haven't seen anything, for now. Let's say that we need to improve in everything, not only in a specific area, even if we mainly erred in terms of grip and changes in direction, elements in which there's been no progress so far."

So, his will to progress is great, especially in view of Motegi. "We still have many races to go. Twice, three times in a row, and Valencia. Japan is also missing. For that Grand Prix, I'm pushing to have a competitive bike. That's my goal," he confessed.
