SBK, At Magny-Cours Toprak seeks World Championship stretch, Ducati bets on surprise effect

The Turkish rider dreams of a hat trick on one of his favorite tracks, but Bautista and Bulega know that the challenge isn't decided from the start, since there's a risk of rain that could change the cards on the table. Petrucci is a candidate and a loose cannon, while Iannone will be riding the Panigale on the French track for the first time.

SBK: At Magny-Cours Toprak seeks World Championship stretch, Ducati bets on surprise effect

Vacation is over and a fiery September awaits everyone with three races in a month. The first will be at Magny-Cours with Toprak arriving as World Championship leader thanks to a margin of no less than 92 points over Nicolò Bulega, first of the pursuers.

As we all know the French track seems to be the favorite hunting ground for the Turkish rider, given what he's done in the past with Kawasaki and Yamaha. That's precisely why we're convinced he'll want to also confirm his potential with the BMW.

But the riders have to be careful for what could end up being a significant pitfall: bad weather. Rain is expected over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Certainly, Toprak is aiming for a stretch in the World Championship while Bulega's and Bautista's Ducatis will try to contain a 54.

Ducati is clinging to the progress they demonstrated in Portimao, where Bautista returned to battle it out for the victories, while Bulega missed it by a whisker on Sunday because of a fever. It may be true that the test promises to be a high-stake one for the Ducatis, but the Aruba duo doesn't want to give up before its time.

It's going to be interesting to understand at what level Danilo Petrucci is, since he's been on the rise in recent rounds, without forgetting Andrea Iannone who, besides being at the center of the market, he's never ridden the V4 at Magny-Cours.

Instead, in Yamaha, we expect signals from Johnny Rea, while many are curious about Alessandro Delbianco, at the start of the transalpine round with the Yamaha GRT. Finally, we can't forget Kawasaki with Lowes fourth in the World Championship, just 10 points behind Bautista, to the point of being one of the revelations of this 2024.
