Miguel Oliveira's Aragon GP ended after just a few corners thus thwarting his hopes of finishing in the top 5 in an uncompetitive weekend for Espargaro and Vinales' factory Aprilia.
"Physically I'm fine, but it was an abnormal weekend because of the non-optimal track conditions, where I could only try to get the most out of each circumstance. The first lap? I was unlucky. I was making a comeback when I went half an inch wide entering the last corner with a full tank of gas and the bike went away from me."
There is a lot of disappointment, especially in the light of the form shown since Friday especially in the comparison with the other RS-GPs. "It's a shame how it ended, because even if we were not among the fastest we could have brought home some good points. It's hard to swallow, but that's how it went. How was the track? In line with Free Practice 1, it was worse in the Sprint Race."
In recent hours it was announced that Wilco Zeelenberg, now team principal and in 2025 to be replaced by Davide Brivio, was leaving Trackhouse Racing. "He was a great asset to the team. Being a former racer he understands our way of thinking, our frustrations and then he can advise us, as well as know what we need. I won't be there, but it will be a big loss for the team."
Finally, commenting on the incident between Marquez and Bagnaia, the Portuguese rider responded authoritatively, "Alex's fault. He is the one who caused the impact. It was a strange situation because he went wide and he knew Pecco was on the inside. When he entered the corner he was half a bike behind. He could have had the better of it, but he got hooked and it was over. Did he deserve a penalty? Personally I was penalized for much less, however I am not the race director, it's just my opinion."
