Marco Bezzecchi arrives at the Aragon challenge with the goal of confirming what we saw about 10 days ago at the Red Bull Ring. The Pertamina VR46 rider has, in fact, shown encouraging signs, and now he needs to replicate them on a track that doesn't seem to adapt much to his characteristics.
Yet, he has no intention of giving up even before taking to the track and looks forward to the Motorland weekend with confidence.
"I like Aragon. It's a very nice, unique track," he began. "I'm curious to see the new asphalt, because a big change has been made compared to the past and, as a result, it's going to be necessary, in order to understand our level."
This track is very demanding in terms of braking in corners. Are you worried that the new asphalt will make it more complicated in terms of grip?
"To tell you the truth, I don't think it depends more on grip, although this aspect makes a lot of difference in how the bike reacts to problems. Here, in Aragon, there's a lot of braking, and it's an opportunity to work and improve. We'll definitely have good grip, and I'm aware that it's going to be tough but, at the same time, it's a great opportunity."
Are you worried about what lies ahead?
"We've faced tracks with different layouts throughout the season. This track is a good opportunity to see if my style is better than before, as is my riding the bikes. I'm well aware that the characteristics of this track might not suit me and the bike, but the Aragon stage is a stimulus and an opportunity to verify our level."
The GP23 has never raced here.
"That's true, but I don't think it changes anything, because the GP24 has never raced here either. The most important variable is the new asphalt. In fact, I have a hard time talking about expectations. However, I aim to be strong on every track."
Finally, there's the issue related to high temperatures.
"It all depends on how you are with the bike, because if you're comfortable, the tire doesn't wear out. In my opinion, it all depends on how the asphalt reacts to the heat. Usually, new asphalt is quite aggressive on the tires."
