MotoGP: Pol Espargaró is making it a habit: third wildcard with the KTM RC16 at Misano

The Austrian GP won't be Pol Espargaró's last appearance of the season. The KTM test rider will be back in action on the weekend of September 6th-8th at the Misano circuit to tackle his third wildcard race of the year.

Having already taken part in Mugello and the Red Bull Ring, the 33-year-old rider will be returning  to the latest version of the KTM RC16 at the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini, to continue the progress that allowed him to finish 14th and 17th in the two races in Tuscany and then 9th and 11th in the last round in Spielberg.

"Mugello allowed us to get back to MotoGP speed. We then felt much more competitive at the Red Bull Ring, where we did a lot of practice laps. Misano is another familiar circuit, and I'm happy to be back on the grid after the work we did in Austria," the younger of the Espargaró brothers commented, motivating hi new wildcard appearance. "We have to reconfirm some data in race conditions and also do what we can to help Brad and Jack with the set-up for the two GPs that will keep us there."

On a track where Pol has already been on the podium in 2020, and where the Austrian manufacturer came close to a podium finish last year with test rider Dani Pedrosa, the Spanish rider's goal will, therefore, be to gather useful data for the Mattighofen-based manufacturer, in order to prepare in the best way possible for the double appointment in the Riviera Romagnola, interspersed with the test day scheduled at the Marco Simoncelli on Monday, September 9th, and to push on the development of the RC16 with the clear intention of closing the gap with Ducati as soon as possible.
