The question many have been asking since the beginning of the season and even more so in recent times is how big the difference is between the GP24 and the GP23. The reason for that question mostly revolves around the figure of Marc Marquez, whom so many would like on the top step of the podium, but who today seems unable to materialize that desire precisely because of a technical shortcoming.
Questioned on the subject during the Red Bull Ring weekend, the Spaniard demonstrated that he was not looking for excuses, blaming his lack of success on a riding style that was still not in line with the one required by the Desmosedici. And while, for his part, defending champion Pecco Bagnaia was quick to downplay the differences, Pablo Nieto, a former rider or current coordinator at Valentino Rossi's Academy, on the other hand admitted that the current bike is indeed a step ahead of its big sister.
"Last championship the gap between the GP23 and the GP22 was not that big, while this time it is a little more. Having said that, in my opinion, what is most important is the way you ride. Let's say that the new one is much easier and docile, while in the previous one the engine's power peak was delivered more aggressively. This, whether you like it or not, makes the handling of the vehicle worse," was the Spaniard's final verdict to the microphones of DAZN TV.
