Only two different brands have won the Moto2 constructor’s world Championship since the start of the middle weight category in 2010: The Swiss company Suter clinched the first three titles from 2010 until 2012 with the successful MMX2 machine, and since then the German company Kalexengineering (they built swinging arms and chassis also for the Honda RC213V bike since the Misano GP 2022) seized eleven manufacturer’s world titles in a row from 2013 until 2023. Kalex also managed to win eleven Riders World Championships in succession from 2023 until last year with Pol Espargaró, Rabat, Zarco (2025 and 2016), Morbidelli, Bagnaia, Alex Márquez, Bastianini, Remy Gardner, Augusto Fernández and Pedro Acosta.
Kalex bosses Alex Baumgaertel and Klaus Hirsekorn only had experience in car race engineering when they decided to build a Moto2 race bike for 2010 and could only convince one team to run them – Pons Racing with Sergio Gadea and Axel Pons. In 2011 also the German Kiefer Racing team trusted the nicely built Kalex machinery – and won the Riders Championship with Stefan Bradl, beating Marc Márquez (Suter) by 23 points.
Already in 2022 Boscoscuro managed two GP wins in Misano and Phillip Island with Alonso Lopez. It was the first triumph with the Triumph 765 cc triple engine since Fabio Quartararo had won the Catalunya Moto2 GP in 2018 when the bikes were still called Speed up.
Already in 2023 former 250 cc European Champion Luca Boscos Boscoscuro put a lot of pressure on Kalex, who have put up to 26 bikes on the Moto2 grid for some years and came close to operate a monopoly. Because last year Boscoscuro rider Fermin Aldeguer managed to win the last four Moto2 races of the season. So at the age of only 18 years Aldeguer (he won the European Moto2 Championship in 2021) finished third overall in the rankings and became a serious candidate for both the VR46 and Pramac MotoGP team for 2024.
But the 52 year old Luca Boscoscuro had a waterproof contract with the Spanish super talented rider and made sure Fermin stayed for another Moto2 season with his Speed up team.
In 2024 Boscoscuro after seven wins at the first 11 Grands Prix has high hopes to win the first ever riders and constructor’s world title.
But Kalex has lots of strong riders on the grid and is fighting hard – Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Aspar team) has clinched the win at the British GP on August 6th and Celestino Vietti has won the last race at Spielberg for the Red Bull Ajo team – both riding a Kalex.
The Constructor’s Championship standings after the Austrian GP: 1. Boscoscuro 237. 2. Kalex 222. 3. Forward 6.
"We will give everything and never give up – as usual", Luca Boscoscuro declared talking to GPOne.com.
But the 250 cc European Champion of 1995 attracted a satellite team for 2025 after the successful 2023 season and also supplies the Spanish MT Helmets MSiteam of Teo Martin with top rider Ai Ogura who will join the TrackhouseAprilia MotoGP team in 2025.
An amazing performance: All four permanent riders have won races for Boscoscuro in 2024: MT Helmets MSi team riders Garcia (2x) and Ogura (2x), plus Aldguer (2) and Lopez (1).
The situation in the Riders World Championship at the moment: 1. Sergio Garcia (Boscoscuro) 162 points. 2. Ogura (Boscoscuro), 142. 3. Roberts (Kalex), 130. 4. Lopez (Boscoscuro), 120. 5. Aldeguer (Boscoscuro), 112. 6. Vietti (Kalex), 96.
But Luca Boscoscuro had to accept a setback at the Austrian GP because Ogura suffered a broken hand in practice and had to miss the race in Styria.
The five times Moto2 GP winner was runner up in the Moto2 class in 2022 riding for the Idemitsu Honda Asia team of Hiroshi Aoyama. He has won two races in 2024 and plays a big role in the successful Boscoscuro season so far. "Ai Ogura should be back at Aragón in ten days", the Speed up team owner told GPOne.com. "I hope he will be at least at 90 percent by then."
