MotoGP, Marquez: "Alonso don't show yourself to be angry about a missed win"

"It's normal to be frustrated, it happens to me too, but emotions should be kept to yourself, then when you're at home you can freak out. The Red Bull Ring? David a great braker, but in Moto 3 you're in trouble if you brake too hard."

MotoGP: Marquez:

A bit like Pedro Acosta, who within a few years made the climb up to MotoGP and proved himself capable of competing on par with the best despite his lack of experience, David Alonso is preparing to repeat the same path. After arriving in the world championship in 2023 and immediately winning four GPs, he has already reached seven this year and certainly has no desire to stop.

Also a winner last Sunday at the Red Bull Ring, the 18-year-old is firmly at the top of the Moto 3 standings and has the determined attitude of someone who wants to go far and who views second place as a failure. In a curious interlude played out on the main straight of the Austrian circuit, the Colombian chatted with another two-wheel cannibal like Marc Marquez who, as a veteran gave him a couple of tips.

Going back in his mind to the Silverstone round when he saw first place fade away right at the end in favor of Ortola, the young rider confessed to the champion from Cervera, "At that moment, maybe because I fought it out at the last round I didn't feel like celebrating the result."

In response, the 31-year-old expressed sympathy, confessing that he himself cannot stand knockouts but has a technique for handling them. "What do you think, I get angry too. It's normal and it's good that it happens. However, it's better to keep your frustration inside and not show it in public, then when you're home you can freak out."

"Yes of course, or in the motorhome," the Aspar team rider interjected amid laughter. Shifting the discussion to a more technical aspect, the Gresini Racing rider explained how with Moto 3s on a track like the Styrian one it is not a good idea to brake hard if you don't want to fall, before acknowledging a common riding style with the budding talent. "You are a late braker like me and you behave the same way," he acknowledged.
