Ai Ogura will not be able to take part in the Austrian GP, scheduled for this Sunday at the Red Bull Ring. Stumbling into a nasty highside during FP3, the Japanese rider was taken for a check to the circuit's medical center, where he was diagnosed with a fracture in his right hand.

Still to be assessed is the recovery time for the MT Helmets-MSi team rider, who has been declared "unfit" at least for the remainder of these weekends. An injury that weighs like a boulder in terms of the championship, given that Ogura is in second place in the World Championship, just 18 points behind standings leader Sergio Garcia and was one of the sure protagonists of this 11th round of the season, which had already seen him excel in Friday practice.

All that remains, therefore, is to wait for further tests to see if Ai will be able to take part in the next Grand Prix, scheduled to take place at Aragon over the weekend of August 30-September 1, and continue to keep alive the dream of getting his hands on the title in the intermediate class of MotoGP. Before making his MotoGP debut in 2025, riding one of the Aprilia RS-GPs fielded by the Trackhouse Racing team.
