MotoGP, Quartararo: "I would like Fernandez as test rider and two experienced riders in Pramac"

"We need someone who has raced recently in MotoGP and in the satellite team of veterans and not young riders. The weakness of the M1 at Silverstone was grip, both electronic and mechanical."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

We left Fabio Quartararo two weekends ago crossing the finish line in eleventh position always with the same concerns that have accompanied him since the beginning of the season. Now the Frenchman is gearing up for the round in Austria aware of the enormous amount of work that needs to be done to be able to hope for a little more competitiveness albeit not in the short term.

"At Silverstone we struggled with grip in every respect and I think this represents our main weakness. Unfortunately I get to the limit of the bike too easily and if I try to push harder I crash, which I never used to do. Compared to the configuration used in England, here we have gone back to a more basic solution in the style of Assen and Sachsenring - he explained to the media present at the Red Bull Ring - We will also have fewer things to try since in the meantime Tuesday and Wednesday we will be at Misano for a test. So the goal will be to collect as much as possible."

Trying to make a prediction of what his weekend will be like, the Frenchman said, "There is usually a lot of grip on this track. I think sectors 1 and 2 will not be bad for us, while in the last two we will suffer more because there are several changes of direction. We still lack a bit of cornering speed, so we will have to mix the current solutions with those used in the UK, something that is far from easy. The important thing, however, will be to find more mechanical grip and from the electronics. Otherwise, the two days at the Simoncelli should help us for the future."

On Pramac's entry and its riders, as well as Yamaha's choice of test rider, the 2021 champion said, “It's already a few months that I'm pushing to have a test rider that has been on the MotoGP bike really recently. Like Augusto Fernandez is clearly one rider that I pushed since few months ago and I think he is young. If he is riding fast, for sure he will do some wildcards next year with Yamaha. For sure if he is riding fast he will have the ability to come back also in the championship. But it's true that with the amount of time we have, having two experienced riders is not too bad also. With a young rider, of course, it's great for the future, like Aldeguer. He is going to a factory where the bike is already working and he is good to build for the future."

The Styria track is the same one used by F1, and for the rider from Nice this is reason for thought. "While challenging for the organizer, it would be nice to see the two disciplines together on the same weekend," was his proposal.
