Marco Bezzecchi arrived at the Red Bull Ring with a great desire for redemption. Fresh from a British weekend with more shadows than light but, above all, still suffering the aftermath of a fall that affected his preparation for this new round, the VR46 Racing rider still has his goals set for the upcoming days.
"I'm okay now, I'd say ninety-five percent. But, after the Silverstone race, I underwent some medical check-ups, and it turned out to be a strain in my right thigh," he revealed. " On Monday, I was struggling a lot to move and had my whole leg wouldn't move, even if the bike went on my foot. I honestly thought it was because of the exertion that I had to compensate for what I couldn't do with my foot. Instead, looking at the images again, it turned out that, when the wheel was turning, it pushed my leg back, causing me to do a sort of split."
So, his road towards the Austrian round was anything but linear. "I've been training a lot during this period and doing a lot of physiotherapy. Now we're slowly hoping to gain the percentage I need to get back to being fully fit. Me involved in at least four falls at the start? At those stages, we're all close. and it's easy to make mistakes or suffer those of others. Personally, I don't want to blame anyone. These things happen. On those occasions, I wasn't unlucky, but my time will come. I just hope that I'll never be the cause of falls."
Speaking of the Zeltweg track, the native from Rimini finally explained: "I like it a lot, and I've always done well, from the Moto3 to the MotoGP. In the UK, despite the episode on Saturday, I kept a decent pace in the GP, similar to the riders ahead of me. I'll have to try not to force things. Avoid doing what I did in Le Mans, where I then made a mistake, and pursue a result that's more my style. I think the bike is strong, so we'll try to be competitive right away. Step by step, we'll get back up front. That's the new mentality. In the last race, if I hadn't messed up in qualifying, I could've been there with Alex Marquez and Di Giannantonio. What I'm missing is a weekend without any slip-ups."
