Toprak Razgatlioglu made it 13 wins in a row at Portimao, further extending his winning streak that currently places him as the only rider in World SBK history to have achieved such a long domination. But Race 2 could have had a very different outcome today, as the Turk ran more than half the race with an aerodynamically crippled BMW. In fact, after an overtake against Alex Lowes, Toprak found himself with the left-side fins of his M1000RR ripped off, unbalancing the bike a lot, especially in the long corner before the straight.

Alvaro Bautista could have taken advantage of this, but once he caught up with Toprak and even attempted an initial overtake, he lost the front of his Ducati, missing a good chance to interrupt the winning streak of his rival who is now well on his way to the title. Bulega also attempted to beat the Turk, who, however, defended himself perfectly in the final stages, preventing any maneuver by Nicolò, who at least put important points on the board for the overall standings, which sees him always in second position. Also on the podium was Alex Lowes, author of a high-level weekend in Portimao.
