SBK: CIV, Bye-bye Supersport 300, hello Sportbike in 2025

Big changes are in sight within the Dunlop CIV championship. With two events left until the checkered flag of 2024, the category is already beginning to unveil its cards for 2025. The most important one concerns the Supersport 300, which is giving way to the Sportbike. The latter, in turn, will be able to host the most prestigious models produced by the likes of Aprilia, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Triumph.

The class will also be active in the IDM (the German series), as well as in the British BSB Championship, where it is already present, setting forth the close collaboration between the championships and their respective Federations, in order to make continental racing homogeneous. With this in mind, the technical regulations will be standardized with those of the World Championships, also in light of the fact that it is precisely the Sportbike that will be included in the World Superbike framework starting in 2026.

"We are very pleased to be able to announce this news since it is something carried out at a European level. A commitment made by also taking into consideration  the proposals of the manufacturers and their models, with the aim of creating a system with many of the motorcycling participants the field of speed. The new category could not have had better premises," IMF President Giovanni Copioli commented.
