SBK, Not only Bautista: Aruba must also resolve the problem of Huertas

If the Spaniard wins the Supersport title in the contract there is promotion to SBK, but with which team? Two possible scenarios if not even a third one that is nothing short of sensational

SBK: Not only Bautista: Aruba must also resolve the problem of Huertas

Adrian Huertas is playing a full-fledged starring role in the Supersport World Championship. Aruba strongly wanted him last season, when the Spaniard was busy riding the MTM Kawasaki. A talented young rider, but above all such a bright prospect that they had him sign a two-year deal, that is, until 2026.

To date, the Spanish rider is dominating the scene to such an extent that he boasts a 46-point lead over Montella, first of the pursuers in the championship. Huertas thus seems launched toward winning the title but a big question mark hovers over his future.

If he were to win the World Championship, there is an option in his contract to jump to Superbike. Yes, but with which team? So let's have a look at the various scenarios.

First of all, it must be said that if Aruba had wanted to back the entire operation, the first choice could have been Motocorsa. In fact, Lorenzo Mauri's team had the Spaniard in its sights, but unfortunately the obstacle could not be overcome.

That said, Aruba would also be willing to place Huertas in a satellite team, as long as the latter would take charge of the management and more. The problem is that at the moment Ducati's independent teams are almost all full. So one scenario could have been Go Eleven, should Iannone be promoted to the factory team, but that will not happen.

The second scenario, already evaluated in recent weeks by the team led by Cecconi, could be to field a third Superbike bike run by the current Supersport team. This is an option reminiscent of 2018, when Michael Rinaldi participated in World SBK but only contested the European rounds alongside Davies and Melandri.

Here, this could be a resounding and at the same time suggestive possibility, with Stefano Cecconi who would bring a third Panigale V4 to the track. It has to be seen, however, whether the pieces can be fitted together or not.

Finally, the last scenario is Huertas either continuing one more season in Supersport or sensationally deciding to break his contract and find himself an alternative. Of the latter possibility, however, we are unconvinced.

The fact remains that in addition to Bautista's renewal, there is also the problem related to the young rider on whom Aruba bet a year ago.
