MotoGP: Silverstone Grand Prix: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Enea Bastianini dressed up as Mike Hailwood to beat Jorge Martin-Angel Nieto. In the Silverstone masquerade party, it was the native from Rimini who had the most fun of all. The Spanish rider made due with what he had, while Bagnaia made mistakes, and then limited the damage. Liveries of yesteryear, but races of today, with Ducati ridiculing the competition. And that's no joke.

THE GOOD - The Beast is a beauty, when he's in the mood ... when he strokes the tires and slaps his opponents around. Like at Silverstone, unstoppable and happy, finally back to that version of Enea we all knew. Now he has to remain at that level, and that won't be easy.

THE BAD - He only enjoyed the bikes dressed in vintage liveries for one race. Not all of them were spot on (because sponsors want their share), but the initiative was appreciated, by the public and the riders. Finally, an idea. You don't usually see many of those in the MotoGp.

THE UGLY - Once upon a time, there was Silverstone, where Aprilia felt at home and won. The story didn't have a happy ending this year, and Maverick Vinales had no problem pointing it out: "Has Ducati grown? No, we've fallen back." That was the dig, but the doubt remains that the Spanish rider didn't even try to put his own spin on it.

THE DISAPPOINTMENT - In recent weeks, people have been talking about KTM because of its financial difficulties, partly because it's not even possible to be distracted by the results on the track. Rookie Acosta tried, and he even scolded the team. Good for him, not that good for the others.

THE CONFIRMATION - They have the best bike and the best riders. Obviously, winning is no longer enough, and dominating has become routine. With one rider injured and another serving two long laps, they placed 8 bikes in the top 10. This is the second time Ducati has done this. You can bet it won't be the last.

THE ERROR - What would Bagnaia be if he didn't decide to complicate his life? He does so (as usual) on Saturday. A slip up, copied by Marc Marquez. The two future teammates in the Sprint Race shared the pain.

THE SURPRISE - Better late than never. Celestino Vietti was able to celebrate on the podium. An experience he had been missing for almost a year. The third step doesn't turn heads because of the height, but it's a good starting point to continue the climb.

THE OVERTAKE - The final laps of the Moto3 were chock full of them. A sign that the MotoGP guys are capable of putting on a show, not like when they stay in the pits during qualifying.

THE ANECDOTE - Enea Bastianini is the 10th different winner in the last 10 editions of the Silverstone Grand Prix.

THE I TOLD YOU SO - Aleix Espargarò on the eve of the GP recalled his recent successes: "I want to repeat it." Until the pole position, we had believed him.
