As usual the top teams in Moto3 und Moto2 have to wait a bit longer than the MotoGP team managers to finalize their riders line up for the next season. "Because the performance of the young talents can improve within a few month we prefer to wait until the Austria GP before we make most of the decisions", KTM Motorsport director Pit Beirer explained.
But the Pierer Mobility group with the brands KTM, GASGAS and Husqvarna has already confirmed the plan to concentrate on GP racing with KTM only and withdraw GASGAS and Husqvarna Motorcycles from the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championship by the end of the year.
At the British GP some interesting transfers in Moto3 and Moto2 raised eyebrows in the GP paddock. Jake Dixon (ASPAR CFMOTO team), down to 7th place in the rankings, will be joining the Belgian ELF Marc VDS Racing team, which is no big surprise because the team of beer millionaire Marc van der Straten (which stands for VDS) is run by Marina Rossi, wife of Dixon’s close friend Sam Lowes and the British rider is a potential winner. Dixon has won two Moto2 GP races in 2023 but never really fought for the title.
Celestino Vietti, who scored his first Red Bull KTM Ajo podium last weekend, is going to rider for the Speed up factory team of Luca Boscoscuro next year, while Ai Ogura (second in the title hunt, 18 points behind Garcia) is expected to join the American Trackhouse Aprilia Racing team. This deal got strong support from Dorna, because the GP promoter wants to see the Squad of Justin Marks fighting for top positions.
Vietti could replace Alonso Lopez because the Spanish rider is looking for another team after three years with Speed up.
Like Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, who have no contracts for 2025 yet, also in Moto2 there will be some riders left out in the cold – like Filip Salac, Darryn Binder (he raced in MotoGP in 2022 for WithU Yamaha) and Dennis Foggia.
David Almansa is supposed to return to Moto3 and join the Italian Leopard Honda team.
Izan Guevara, Moto3 World Champion with Aspar GASGAS in 2022, will leave the Aspar CFMOTO team – like teammate Jake Dixon. Aspar CFMOTO will run Moto3 leader David Alonso (53 points ahead of Ortolá) next year in Moto2. Dani Holgado joins Moto2 team of Aspar

Because the Pierer Mobility always tries hard to find the best riders inside the Austrian group for the most successful Red Bull KTM Ajo team the highly talented Dutch rider Colin Veijer (winner of the Jerez GP 2024 and 4th overall now) will switch to Aki Ajo for 2025. The 2024 riders line up of the Finnish team with Rueda and Zurutuza delivered a pretty disappointing season so far.
Some strong Moto2 riders like Manuel Gonzalez (6th in the overall ranking riding for QJMotor Gresini) are still looking for new a new contract and an attractive team.
Fantic Motor has signed up Aron Canet again. The Spanish veteran is holding 8th position in the Championship despite winning the Portuguese GP in March.
