MotoGP, Di Giannantonio: "The next step to be among the first? The new bike."

"The GP23 is very good and capable of entering the Top 5, but it doesn't allow you to fight for the victory. The problem? It loses in the middle and when exiting corners. The race? Fantastic. I feel bad about wasting time behind Acosta and Alex Marquez."

MotoGP: Di Giannantonio:

Fifth at the end of the Silverstone GP, Fabio Di Giannantonio ended the weekend with a smile and a 5th place. But he also had an ounce of regret, since he wasn't able to catch up with the leading group, due to riders he was with in the early stages that were slower, despite the fact that his Desmosedici would've allowed him to do so.

"It was tough, a really tough race. I had a super start. The performance? A little too much, because I lost a lot of  time behind Acosta and Alex Marquez . When I passed them, they came back in front so, at one point, I tried to make them understand that we had to work together to get the others, because we were bothering each other," he said, as he analyzed the decisive moment of his race.

Instead, regarding his conduct, the rider from Rome confided, "The pace was very good, and this allowed me to close not far from Bagnaia. Do I feel bad about the missed podium? Happier than the big race. Being in a battle with slower riders is part of the game."

When asked about possible fuel and tire problems, the 25-year-old explained, "The engineers calculated the amount of fuel well, so everything was fine. For the tires, I tried to manage a little at the beginning despite having to overtake but, especially when I was alone, I had a good pace. I was able to ride clean and, at the end, I arrived with the right amount to push, even if a little at the limit."

The cooler weather helped. "It's easier to manage the tires this way. The hard would have been the ideal choice if it had stayed up to temperature, but you can't predict that because, if I had been in front alone, it would've cooled down. So I think mounting the medium was the perfect decision."

The bikes had a special livery for the occasion. "It was nice to race there. It put pressure on me, but it also charged me. I personally asked Rossi if I could celebrate it with the helmet, as well. I wanted to thank them for trusting me," he said, before revealing the missing element in his progress.

"I'd need a bike like the others. The GP23 is a top five, but being with the top guys is difficult. What's the differencew? hen you get close to the apex, the new version rides well and prepares the exit better. We, on the othe hand, feel a push that doesn't allow you to close the line," he explained.

Finally, he spoke aobut his fellow teammates, about while he was bent in a corner. "Is it a difficut maneuver? That's why we get paid so much."
