MotoGP, Quartararo: "Too many changes? I am no longer a rider, but a tester."

"This season I haven't used the same bike more than two days in a row, but the hope is that this will all help. To date we are too dependent on track conditions. For me what matters is to be fast."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

He might have only finished the Sprint Race at Silverstone in 11th position, just one step off the top 10, but at the end of the day Fabio Quartararo expressed all his bewilderment at the hunt for a modification on his M1, without the interventions being able to produce any real and effective result.

"It's been a complicated weekend so far," he admitted, "We tried a lot of things until the Sprint and I faced qualifying without a reference. The two bikes we worked on were quite different from each other and that made me feel a bit lost. Fortunately in the race I didn't do too badly and all in all I didn't even finish too far behind Miller who finished seventh."

When asked why this particular tour de force, the 2021 MotoGP champion explained, "You always hope there will be improvement, although usually from the piece you expect the most from you don't get much. Personally, right now I'm just trying to be fast because in the last few rounds I've been more of a tester than a rider. I haven't used the same bike more than two days in a row."

After the outburst he put his focus on the technical aspects related to the engine and more: "I am using the Sachsenring spec, the problem is that to devote ourselves to electronics the two motorcycles were prepared very differently, for example one is heavier and stops well, the other one struggles to slow down but is lighter. In Valencia we tried three different powertrains, two are the ones we are taking to the track, the third is in the works. The fact is that we are too dependent on circuit conditions."

"Tomorrow I will start 18th and I was 1.6s from pole. I've never been this bad in qualifying. At least last year we had a base that was always the same, now it's constantly changing and I don't know what the limit of the bike is anymore to make up for the shortcomings," was his bitter reflection.
