Jorge Martin arrives at Silverstone hungry for revenge with the goal of turning the page after the Sachsenring crash. In addition to the damage also the bitter pill to swallow of having lost the world championship leadership to Pecco Bagnaia, towards whom the Spaniard uses sweet words for being recently married.
It is from there that the Pramac rider's conference begins on the occasion of the British Thursday.
"First of all I want to congratulate Pecco," he began, "we have known each other for many years and I want to renew my congratulations. Now, however, it is time to start again and I am ready. Despite the summer break I trained all the time, even when I was at the beach. Too bad about that crash at Sachsenring, but these days I have been trying to analyze to understand how to avoid new episodes like that. So let's try to look ahead and race as we like to do."
How do you deal with this weekend?
"When you crash you try to analyze and understand why. Of course we want to improve, but inside I am aware that in Germany I was the strongest. So I want to keep my aggressiveness by taking one race at a time. Obviously we are talking about small details and inside I know why I crash. The thing is, it's hard to identify it when you're riding. I certainly don't want to become obsessed about it, because thanks to my riding I have reached this level."
What do you think of Crafar's arrival in place of Spencer?
"For me it's a great change. I know Simon well and I know he still races motorcycles, so as a result he understands the behavior. I think he can be more uniform in his judgments since he interfaces so much with the riders."
Here at Silverstone there are special liveries, dedicated to 75 years of MotoGP. What can you tell us about yours?
"Ours is a special dedication to Angel Nieto. As soon as there was this opportunity we took the ball and I am really happy to bring his colors to the track."
Rewinding ours back to the past, what is the race that sticks with you the most?
"I remember Valencia 2006 when I met Valentino. There is also Laguna Seca 2008, one of the most beautiful ever."
A new airbag system was tested at the last motocross race. What do you think about it? Can it be useful here in MotoGP as well?
"It is a very important part of our protections and I tried the new Alpinestars equipment, which I consider the best. Initially it was difficult with the airbag, but now I'm doing well."
In September, MotoGP will hold two races in Misano. Do you agree with this choice?
"I would have preferred to do one, because I am reminded of the Covid period. However, we will try to have fun, strengthened by the results picked up last year."
