MotoGP, Quartararo: "Bartolini? I stayed for him. He changed my mentality."

"Also positive is the entry of Pramac as the second official team. Having four equal bikes will help us with development. What is missing from the M1? Now we can count on a powerful engine, but we lost everything else."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

Fifteenth in the overall standings with just 44 points against leader Pecco Bagnaia's 222, Fabio Quartararo has never hidden his disappointment at a situation that is struggling to change despite the fact that concessions have nonetheless allowed Yamaha to reduce the gap from its European rivals.

Accustomed to winning and making a difference, the Frenchman has been finding himself, for some years now fighting in the rear ranks. A hardly acceptable state of affairs, but one that has slowly become a less bitter pill thanks to Massimo Bartolini's arrival in the team.

"His arrival on the team is one of the main reasons I stayed," he confided to Speedweek about the former Ducati performance manager, "He understands powertrains and electronics, plus he knows how to give a rider confidence. An aspect, this one, that is really important. His information convinced me to stay and then I wanted to work with him. His hiring was a risk, but I have to say that he completely changed my way of thinking."

From 2025 to help the factory team there will also be Prima Pramac Racing, no longer with the Desmosedici, but, precisely, the M1. Another crucial step for the tuning-fork manufacturer.

"When I signed the negotiations were already under way, but it was not known whether it would go through. In any case, if I had perceived that the approach was the same as before I would not have stayed," he stressed, "I personally do not consider it a satellite team, but an extension of the official one. The motorcycles will have to be the same in order to think about improving a lot and quickly."

Finally, an analysis from a technical point of view. "I'm not saying that in the past the bike was perfect, but we just lacked a powerful engine. Now there is one, however, we have lost everything else. We lack grip and as a result rideability, as well as aerodynamics. We are trying to find a balance between the elements, without giving up what we have gained. A complex goal to achieve," he confessed.
