Present at the Misano circuit for World Ducati Week Marco Bezzecchi promised that he will enjoy every last second of the event and the championship, even though he is aware that he is in the closing credits as far as his collaboration with the brand is concerned.
"I am living this period very well, because I see so much affection from the fans, but also from the entire Ducati staff. At the end of the year we will have to say goodbye, but for me it is a goodbye, not a farewell," were the words of the Rimini native.
From 2022 a rider for the Italian manufacturer, the 25-year-old will leave at the end of the season with no hard feelings. "Leaving is part of the journey. Thanks to VR46 and the Borgo Panigale factory, I arrived in MotoGP. For me it was a great honour and a great fortune to be able to grow and learn. I hope to continue in this way in my next challenge, which will be Aprilia. In the life of a sportsman it happens to change and it happened to me like that."
From 2025 Bez will be riding the RS-GP, a substantially different bike from the Desmosedici. "It's hard to judge without having tried it, but when I had the chance to be behind them, it seemed very competitive, especially in braking, in the middle of the corners and in terms of grip and traction," was his analysis.
Turning from the future to the present, tomorrow will be the Race of Champions, no mere catwalk, but all-out racing. "When you go hard you have more fun. I will try to give 100 percent, trying to bring home everything I can. If a podium or a win should come, then it's everything gained. If the top 5 is the best, it's good all the same," he said philosophically.
Finally, decidedly more determined he looked ahead to the upcoming world championship events. "I want to be strong again on a regular basis having so far achieved only one podium in Jerez. Otherwise I have struggled, so I hope to fight for the top 5 or 6 places more frequently. I am sure the team will give me a lot between now and the end of the year and I would like to do the same with good memories and emotions," he concluded putting his own goals on the table.
