MotoGP, Martín: "Now Pramac and I are more alone, but also more united."

VIDEO - "It's been a beautiful story with Ducati and Pramac, we haven't closed the circle yet-not yet at least. Aprilia? I don't think I'll set a record at Sepang, but we'll certainly be fast soon."

Jorge Martìn is having a decidedly peculiar WDW, since he already knows that he is destined to say goodbye to Ducati at the end of 2024 to get on the Aprilia Factory that he will inherit from his great friend Aleix Espargarò. However, his smile in the Pramac box as he greets fans and signs autographs for everyone is beautiful and seems to be on the face of a guy who all in all has regained his serenity after having cashed certainties about his future.

We interviewed him while he was riding the Ducati Panigale V4 2025 that he will take to the track tomorrow in the Race of Champions, and the Spaniard addressed many different topics with us.

It's a special WDW for you, how are you experiencing it?
"It's been a beautiful story with Ducati and Pramac, we haven't closed the circle yet, but I think it's been years of development of the bike, of the team, I would say we've grown together. When I arrived Ducati was not the best bike, it hadn't won a title yet. But with Pecco, Enea and also me, I think the project has grown. Too bad I couldn't move on, but I'm happy to be here. Maybe it will not be my last WDW, maybe I will come back in the future. But that's the way it is now."

How do you see the Race of Champions tomorrow?
"I am calm. Everyone here is putting pressure on me, pushing me. But I see it as a game, the serious stuff will be done at Silverstone. It wouldn't do me any good to have a crash here . Of course I want to have fun, I'm happy to train and I'm also happy to ride here in Misano ahead of the GP. I certainly won't risk screwing up, though."

Now your future is clear, do you think you will live more peacefully the second part of 2024?
"I think already in Germany, when I had the Aprilia contract and everything was clear, I went really strong, more than anyone- I made a mistake, but just learn from those mistakes, the important thing was to be at a high level and I feel great now. I don't have to do anything in particular, I 'm in a perfect state of form and I think it's enough for me to finish the races. I think I have taken a good step forward between now and the end of the year, and I think if we work well, we can at least stay in the fight until the end."

Both you and Pramac are leaving Ducati. Has this changed the feeling in the team a little bit?
"I think everything is normal in Pramac, it's not that much has changed from before. But these future changes have united us today as a team, though. In the end we understood-it's not that we are alone, but we are certainly more alone than in other past seasons. Before we had the confidence to continue with Ducati, you easily passed over so many things. Now as a team, however, we have to come together even more to give 100 percent."

You have watched Aprilia on the track many times, what do you expect?
"I don't know what to expect honestly. I don't need to anticipate too much about what's to come. We saw that they won with Maverick, they won with Aleix. You can see that it's a growing project, but definitely at the beginning it won't be like when you came to Sepang with a Ducati and made the record. But after a few races I think we will be competitive and bring home the results."
